We Say “Yes” Wednesday

I want to tell you about a place that I would love to go and say yes to everyday! It is called the Dry Bar. No cuts, no colors, just washing, blow drying and styling for $35. The reason I am saying Yes to it this week is because it is a perfect place for a bachelorette party or to send the bride to be there for some R and R. This past weekend I had my good friend Amber’s bachelorette party. She has beautiful hair and has been so busy she never has time to straighten it. So while the rest of the bridal party got the dinner reservations ready we sent her to the Dry Bar in Fashion Island. We came to pick her up and she seemed so relaxed, watching the notebook and sipping on their complimentary champagne. Perfect start to her night out! We all had serious hair envy when she was done!

Marriage Proposal: There’s Nothing Like A First Date

Ravi and Jackie knew on their first date it would be their very last. They had an atypical first date; the couple went to a thrift store, and allotted one another $10 to find an outfit for each other to wear that evening. Ravi bought Jackie a crazy head piece and Jackie found interesting rubber snakes to embellish Ravi’s neck. They followed that thrift store shopping spree with a rock concert and the movie, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. He explained, “You can only imagine the looks we got!” Ravi wanted his proposal to be special but nothing over-the-top because that’s what Jackie would love.

Ravi proposed to Jackie at the gorgeous Rosewood Mansion in Dallas Texas. He treated her to a five-course meal designed to her taste. We assured Ravi there was a better way to pop the question than to drop it in her champagne glass, so with a little team effort he agreed that bringing in a big screen, watching a movie during their romantic meal, and ending it with a little surprise would do the trick. When they walked into the Chef’s Table, a private room adorned with flowers and petals, the helpful waiter poured their wine and started up “their” movie, Scott Pilgrim. They enjoyed their five-course meal while being entertained by something they love. When the show was over, the waiter brought in one last course, which was a memorabilia basket with items from their first date. He explained he knew after she was willing to wear an outfit chosen by him at the thrift store, he should marry her quick! Congrats to Ravi and Jackie! There is nothing quite like your last first date!

Travel Channel Proposal: Tim + Jess

Tune In: Marriage Proposal by The Yes Girls

Airs: This Sunday, August 28th

Time: 4pm E/P on HD channel and 7pm E/P on Non-HD Channel.

Channel: Travel Channel

Show: Sand Masters

Back in May, Kendall and I were blessed and completely thrilled when we received the phone call inviting us to plan a top-secret sand sculpture proposal for Travel Channel. In no time we had the perfect guy for the job; as a Cali surfer would say, “he was stoked.”

Tim Jeanson and Jessica Soberay, an endearing surfing couple from Huntington Beach, CA are kind enough share their love story and one of the most unique marriage proposals we have ever been a part of, well with…America. After two years of dating, Tim was ready to ask Jessica to be his wife at the same location they shared their first date. Jessica, being an avid surfer, showed up for what she thought was a follow-up casting call for a tribute to Huntington Beach, the surf capital. A few days prior, Jessica and Tim came down to be the Sand Masters, surfing “models” for the sculpture. Little did she know the sand sculpture was actually all for her.

After a few minute photo shoot with good friend Aaron Young, we quickly put together another little surprise…

Behind the scenes, The Yes Girls worked with Tim to create his proposal idea and design. The proposal idea was to create a gigantic barreling sand wave with memories from their relationship scattered throughout. He loved the idea of two separate waves merging into one wave, their wave of life! He incorporated her lifelong dream of working with Orcas, roses from their first date, and suitcases labeled with every destination they have traveled to together into the concept.

As the couple began to admire the sculpture, Jessica, slowly but surely caught on that this was in fact not a tribute to the city but to her. As Jessica rounded the corner, she came face to face with a life-size sand sculpture of Tim and herself on a surfboard. Tim’s sand duplicate was on one knee in the “proposal pose” presenting an engagement ring! Tim walked right to the sculpture and mimicked its pose as he asked Jessica, “Will you marry me?” You can imagine the size of crowd a magnificent sand sculpture draws forth, especially for a marriage proposal. Strangers waited for hours to witness this proposal and wildly cheered once she said yes. Amongst those strangers were two of her best friends waiting to congratulate Jessica.

Thinking the proposal couldn’t possibly get any sweeter, another surprise was awaiting their company. In front of “She Said Yes” carved in the sand sculpture, was a romantic picnic adorned with blankets, pillows, her favorite romance novels, favorite flowers, favorite wine, and the exact meal they shared on their first date!

I hope you enjoy their proposal as much as we did. Unfortunately we do not get to view episode before it airs, so we will be watching it for the first time with all of you. The Sand Guys were troopers as it wasn’t California finest weather (you’ll see as we are buried in sweatshirts) but they managed to create a masterpiece.

Top 6 Gifts for Your Groom

Today we have a special guest post from the friendly bloggers at The Man Registry. For all you brides-to-be, these are some popular groom’s gifts they recommend. What is the best groom’s gift you’ve seen?

By this point in your frenzied wedding planning process, your wedding gift for your fiance may have (understandably) slipped to the bottom of your never-ending to do list. Don’t stress! If you’re looking for some great gifts ideas for your groom, we’ve got you covered.

Consider one of these unique options to fit your fiance’s personality:

  • Personalized Secret Agent Cuff LinksThese handsome silver-toned cuff links, which he can wear on the wedding day and beyond, not only look sharp, but feature a secret compartment that’s perfect for housing a personal note or other small memento.
  • Mr. Beer Kit with Personalized Pub Glass Set If your guy’s favorite drink is a nice, cold brewski, really wow him with this guy-friendly gift set, which includes a home brewing kit and four 16-oz. personalized pub glasses.
  • Engraved Pilot Quartz WatchA gift he’ll wear for years to come, this stylishly rugged watch, which is available in a black band with a black dial or a brown band with yellow dial, can be engraved with one, two or three initials.
  • Golf Club Drink Dispenser – Does he love playing golf with the guys in his free time? Knock his socks off with this automatic golf club drink dispenser, which holds 54 fluid ounces (1.6L) of his favorite hot or cold beverage. The club features a real head and shaft, so it can be concealed in his golf bag until it’s time to quench his thirst.

  • Samsung 3D Wi-Fi Ready Blu-ray Player – If your guy’s a movie buff or tech fan, you can’t go wrong with this 3D Wi-Fi-ready Blu-ray player. This cutting-edge gift will let him connect to the Internet and stream movies, listen to music and access a wide range of content on his HDTV.
  •

So when should you present him with this important gift? If you can’t wait to give him your gift on the big day, consider presenting it to him the night before the wedding, perhaps after the rehearsal dinner to help jump-start the next-day’s celebration and show him how much you appreciate him and can’t wait to start your new life together.

If you won’t see your groom until the afternoon or evening on the big day, consider enlisting a bridesmaid or family member to deliver the gift to him, so he can open it during the morning beforehand. If he’s dealing with any last-minute stress or nerves, this can be a great way to let him know how much you love him and how excited you are to be officially married in a few short hours.

Prefer to wait until after the wedding? Consider presenting your gift while you’re both relaxing on your honeymoon to make the day extra memorable.

Can’t afford the gift you really want with all of the other wedding expenses? Save up and give him your dream gift on your first anniversary. Just because the wedding’s over doesn’t mean it won’t be any less meaningful. Your thoughtful gift will help him relive the celebration all over again.
