Monday “Rocks”!

Yet another Monday… may be the start of your work week, but at least you get to look at some gorgeous engagement rings, right?! Just when I thought I couldn’t find any more fantastic pieces, I came across the jewelry collection of Gordon Clark. Each ring is delicately detailed with symmetrical beauty and such a structural awe. A clean mix of both a vintage and modern feel. I know every week I’m amazed, but these pieces are truly mesmerizing! Take a look…

Sweet Home Alabama Marriage Proposal / The Yes Girls + Sara Field Photography

Derek and Lesley, fell in love in sweet home Alabama but with Derek in the Air Force they had to pack their bags and move to California for his first assignment. Derek is so head over heels for his girl, I knew this proposal would be SO much fun to be a part of and it totally was!

A few photos of the set up, details, and engagement pics! Derek and I got to work right away so no surprise was ruined.

Family and friends wrote sweet words for the back of every puzzle piece.

It’s game time! …

And…

It’s safe to safe California and Alabama feel like two different worlds so to cure some of Lesley’s homesickness, Derek surprised her with a marriage proposal catered around home sweet home. That morning she woke up to one of her favorite things, a scavenger hunt around their new home! We found the perfect spot to complete the proposal, a lagoon that totally had the “feel” of Alabama! Whether it was the sweet tea in mason jars, their nicknames on straws, her personally signed Paula Dean cookbook, the Roll Tide pom poms or the puzzle with letters from her family and friends on the back of each puzzle piece, she finally started to feel at home and create a memory she would NEVER forget in California. There was so much thoughtfulness I can barely contain how giddy I was for her! Sara Field Photography brilliantly captured the details and emotions from this amazing marriage proposal while I filmed little bits on her Flip cam (hence my shaky hand). Our favorite part was secretly watching Lesley assemble the puzzle while hysterically laughing/crying (happy tears of course) as she read the sweet notes from Derek and her family; it was hard not to laugh along with her! Just as Lesley finished assembling the photo puzzle, she looked around frantically for the final piece, which Derek came up from behind and added for her…the photo of her engagement ring!

After a few engagement photos and watching a special video from her family, Lesley and Derek headed off to Napa for a full day of wine tasting, dining and a stay at the adorable Hennessy House B&B! From the moment she woke up to the second she laid her head down to sleep, Lesley was overwhelmed with surprises and the most romantic day in her life! Congrats again love birds!

We Say Yes Wednesday

This week I thought I would say Yes to a proposal location! We rarely give shout outs to amazing locations we find, but I need to share this one. With Valentine’s Day around the corner we are gearing up and scouting amazing proposal locations. This one is located in San Francisco. Why I love it so much is because you can have the space private for a proposal, but it can easily turn into a room fit for an engagement party! It also is Tyler Florence’s flagship restaurant. You can reserve the whole second floor or entire restaurant for your event. Added bonus: a tv in one of the private rooms to incorporate a slideshow or messages from family and friends after you propose and the other private room has a billiards table! So We Say Yes to: Wayfare Tavern San Fransisco, CA.

Love,

A Hotel Del Beach Proposal captured by Kevin Warn

Kevin Warn submitted a beautiful proposal he captured in front of the Hotel Del in Coronado, CA on December 30. Great Christmas present if you ask me! Sarah and Kyle look so in love, and we were more than happy to feature this proposal. Here is the background story of the proposal from Kevin:

“Kyle and Sarah were living up in San Francisco when Kyle got a design job here in Orange County, so he moved to Laguna Beach. Sarah came to visit during Christmas and Kyle thought Hotel Del Mar would be the perfect spot as Sarah spent a summer living in Coronado during her college days and Hotel Del Mar was one of her favorite spots.  While Sarah’s family close by for New Years Eve, Kyle thought it would be a great time to pop the question so her family would be close by to celebrate. The plan was to set up a fake massage appointment as a reason to go to the hotel. They would arrive and he would go check in and say they were way early for their appointments and then go to the bar to get some champagne and walk the beach. At this time, I was suppose to walk up and say I am a local photographer trying to build my portfolio and was wondering if they would pose for a couple quick photos. In the middle of the shoot he would propose to her. Well shortly after they arrived he sent me a text, but accidentally sent it to Sarah instead. He thought for sure she found out, but luckily she didn’t check her phone. So I got a message saying that he was going to do it on his own and for me to try to get as close as possible. Well I followed them out of the bar and all around the beach without her knowing until he dropped down and proposed. She had no idea it was coming and I was photographing the whole thing!”

See more of Kevin’s work here. These pictures are another great example of why having a photographer at the proposal is key. Extra bonus: the engagement pictures they also got!

Congrats Sarah and Kyle!

Love,
