Classic White Martha Stewart Inspired Bridal Shower

So…I was OBSESSED with Lindsay’s bridal shower!! It was the perfect June day for Lindsay June’s shower. Since Lindsay first laid eyes on the stunning all white bridal decor in a 1998 Edition of Martha Stewart Bridal Magazine, she fell in love with weddings. If you were one of those little girls who dreamed about her wedding day and all the memorable events that surround your big day then you will understand just how overwhelmed Lindsay was when she walked into her dream bridal shower, completed with all white, classic decor. Still beyond all the lovely details was a WHOLE lot of love and a hilarious video (thanks to bridesmaid/friend Lydia’s editing skills); film was of all her bridesmaids playing the various characteristics that make up Lindsay. Good fun indeed!

bridal shower Photos compliments of good friend and photography extraordinaire Melissa from MMP Studios.

A few more from my camera. Lots of laughter watching the video!

Our Favorite Elements From The Bridal Shower:

  • Ordered the original Martha Stewart 1998 Edition for guests to write prayers and wishes for the bride-to-be in her first ever wedding magazine.
  • Personalized “Lindsay June Shower Menu” with words of affirmation to describe each tasty item. Examples: Energetic Egg Souffle, Funny French Toast Bites, Radiant Red Velvet Cake, etc.
  • Long rectangle white wooden boxes filled with peonies, hydrangeas, dusty miller and lisianthus covering the all white table settings.
  • The guests used as part of the scenery, wearing all white
  • All the bridal shower gifts wrapped in white
  • Large white balloons as the backdrop to the gorgeous peony, red velvet cake.
  • Martha Stewart quotes written on chalkboards at breakfast buffet (Lindsay’s favorite meal)
  • Make your own mimosa station
  • Pearl white gumballs for guest favors
  • “I Do” flag drinking straws

Word’s From The Bride-To-Be:

What didn’t I love about my shower? I had dreamed about an all white bridal shower since I read my first issue of Martha Stewart weddings in 5th grade. Not only did my best friends all remember that, but they went above and beyond to make it more than I ever could have dreamed of. The details were impeccable. It was fancy! Everything from the outfits to the gifts were white. They incorporated the smallest details of who I am and what I love with Martha Stewart quotes on chalk boards, a gorgeous cake, a countdown because I used to make almost daily Christmas count downs, and even incorporated my love for chivari chairs and peonies. They knew I loved brunch so we had a brunch. They filled it with words of affirmation and so much laughter my sides still hurt. It was simply dreamy! One of my favorite days of my life. My friends are amazing!

Wednesdays for Women

I am going to start sharing inspiration boards for proposals that take place in certain settings and the outfit that would be perfect to wear! This week the theme centers around a country proposal. Whether it’s a beautiful ranch picnic or a decked out in lights barn proposal, a girl should be looking good when her man pops the question no matter the setting.

The Bachelorette Date Ideas Recreated

For all of us not on ABC’s The Bachelorette (I’m assuming that is all of us, unless you are Emily Maynard and you’re reading this which would be rather sweet if I do say so myself), The Yes Girls will be putting together some romantic and fun Bachelorette inspired date ideas for the everyday couple as we watch the final weeks approaching Emily’s decision. Yes, of course a helicopter ride to every date isn’t too shabby but in case your option is to use your own car, that would be me!, here are a few ideas inspired by Emily Maynard’s travels in last week’s episode in Dubrovnik, Croatia!

The Bachelorette: Highland Games Date in Croatia

Revised Date: The Bachelorette Highland Games

Go back in history! Create your own Highlands Games: have a hardy meal with your queen and king’s cups, where your favorite European countries colors (even if it originated in Scotland), and participate in a friendly competition of corn hole, darts (unless you are super cool and go to an archery), and horse shoes.

End the evening, on a date night to watch Brave in theaters or if you’d rather stay in, have a nice cup of tea and scone.

Maybe you even feel like witnessing some knights jousting at a place like Medieval Times.

Which date from The Bachelorette do you wish you could go on?!

Mondays For Men: NBA Championship Party Ideas

Hey sports fans! Sad the big game is over? Some you of might not have $200,000 to spend on a bar tab for a championship party like LeBron, D-Wade, Bosh and Co (true story) but you can still celebrate in style. What did your celebration party look like? Are you joining in on the festivities this week such as the parade? Here are some cost effective ways to celebrate with themed championship party ideas…well if you are a Miami fan that is.

Championship party ideas

Championship Party Ideas

1. Create Your Own Bar: If you can’t or rather won’t rack up a $200,000 bar tab, stop by BevMo to get the buy a bottle get one for $0.05 deal and create your own drink and appetizer menu at home.

2. Miami “Heat” It Up Part: Heat it up with a variety of hot wings, spicy peppers and dipping sauces. End the evening with a spicy hot wings eating contest. We all know how much you guys love to eat!

3. Celebrate Like A Kid: My husband and all his friends love the mini basketball competition (the one where you hang a small b-ball net on the back of a door). Top it off with a Sun piñata full of fireballs, hot tomales, and any other “Heat” inspired candy you want to throw in.
