The Yes Girls saw a need in the untapped industry of proposal planning over 5 years ago. Since then, many have heard of proposal planning but what proposal planners do exactly can sometimes be unclear. With the unclear comes common misconceptions so here are a few (hopefully) helpful pointers to what we do and what we do not do as proposal planners.
5 Common Misconceptions of Marriage Proposal Planners:
1. Guys hire a proposal planner for a pretty penny so they don’t have to do anything. Our clients fill out a relationship questionnaire so all the ideas and details brought into the proposal are from stories and information from him.
2. On a similar subject, a proposal planner doesn’t overtake areas of the proposal he wants to handle. Proposal planners will provide a female’s perspective and expertise in planning but it’s important all of HIS wants and ideas are included. He is the one proposing after all!
3. If a man hires a proposal planner, then he is lazy and/or doesn’t care enough to plan it himself. That couldn’t be FURTHER from the truth. Our clients care SO MUCH they want to make it a memory worth telling. Let’s face it, some guys don’t feel they necessarily have the romance or creative bug, so it’s pretty cool of them to seek assistance to make it one-of-a-kind for her. Most importantly, the words in his proposal speech are ALL him.
4. Proposal Planners are too expensive and not worth the money. Our clients receive quality vendors at discounted rates because of our ongoing vendor relationships. For example, a photographer booked with The Yes Girls can save a client $200+. Furthermore, proposal planners handle all the day of coordination which includes not having to stick around for clean up after the proposal so the couple can continue to celebrate (just to name one example of un-wanted stress that proposal planners take on).
5. Proposal planners are only for people who want a public, over-the-top marriage proposal. Actually, most of our clients have preferred private/semi-private proposal settings. Our goal is always to cater the proposal to the couples personality and likes so all details and the location reflect that specific couple.
