About Abbie Clinton

I've always been a social person, ever since I was little. People always told my parents that I needed to get out of my shell (kidding, of course!). I've always been very OCD about everything and organizing things from the first step. Those two qualities combined began my love affair with wedding planning. I graduated from The University of Alabama where I studied hospitality management with a concentration in events. I am currently working full time as an Event Manager in San Antonio, Texas, while doing some wedding planning and wedding photography on the side. I've always been in love with love, so you can say I'm quite excited to be working for this amazing company.

When I think of Washington, D.C., I think of history, and I think most of us do. So this is a perfect city for those that always were on top of their A game in History class, or just love the pretty scenery, because that in itself is a winner.

Now, this location is a given. The Tidal Basin is one of the most gorgeous locations in all of D.C. The Cherry Blossom Trees are a Washington DC legend so if you choose the right time it can be absolutely breathtaking. Walking through with your soulmate in the most beautiful atmosphere serves as the flawless location and you can go paddle boarding or even bring a picnic. (Image Credit)

Places to Propose in San Antonio

Military City USA has a lot more than just that. San Antonio is full of history, and romance, believe it or not. With gorgeous weather and even better people, San Antonio is a wonderful place. As a San Antonio resident, I’ve heard about some cliché, and not so cliché, places to propose in this city. Here’s what I came up with:

    1. The Alamo
This location is a given. It has been historical to The Alamo since like forever?! The Alamo is not only historical, but it is also a stunning piece of architecture. Located right in the middle of downtown, this won’t be a give away location at all.
    2. The Riverwalk
This is the first thing I think of when I think of San Antonio?! Most people don’t know, but the Riverwalk is actually 240 miles long!!! Imagine the countless places that you can propose. One special place is Marriage Island. With a gorgeous oak tree and two benches, countless of people have gotten done on one knee in this very spot. (Image Credit)

    1. Texas Hill Country
Now this is a very broad place, but so many gorgeous spots. Whether it’s a vineyard or an old historic town like Boerne, the Texas Hill Country can’t be beat. (Image Credit)

    1. Tower of Americas
Most people have no idea what this is, but if you know what the Seattle space needle is, you’ll have a good idea. With an amazing restaurant at the top and incredible views, the Tower of Americas is the perfect place for your girl to say “YES!”
    2. Spurs Game
Big sports fans?! Well then, c’mon on. Every Spurs fan I’m sure would just LOVE this idea. The Spurs have a very interesting fan following, so this location is definitely for them.
    3. The Pearl District
As a Pearl District resident, this may be my favorite. The Pearl District is a newer area right outside of Downtown. With amazing restaurants and unreal architecture, this is a great location to sweep your girl off her feet. (Image Credit)
      Engagement Planner in San Antonio
    1. Museum ( The Witte Museum or San Antonio Museum of Art)
For all my museum lovers, we have a couple of different ones in the SATX area. My preference would be the two listed above because The Witte just opened a gorgeous new part that includes a dinosaur exhibit and the SAMA is just unreal beautiful for many different reasons. (Image Credit)

As a San Antonio resident, I’m partial to this city. If I have any other locals out there, feel free to drop where you got proposed to in Military City USA below in the comments!

Hidden Wedding Costs You May Not Think Of

Planning a wedding can be stressful: who are your bridesmaids going to be? Does your color palette match? Do we want a destination or in town wedding? These are all things that are going through your mind, but most importantly, are we staying on budget? There are many things that go into planning and paying for during the wedding planning process. I’m here to help with that and give you a couple of things that you may not think of.

First, is the marriage license. Yes, you’re ready to tie the knot and walk down the aisle, but have you actually made it official? The easiest place to get your marriage license is the country clerk’s office or the court clerk if you’re getting married out of state. Make sure you are bringing the appropriate identification as well. The cost ranges, but can be as low as $35!

The next one is up in the air: wedding party gifts. This is something that you can do away with if you are close to your budget, but it’s a definite nice gesture. This is something that your friends will remember and it can be as little or big as your budget allows.

So you found the perfect dress: the sleeves are long like you wanted, it has an open back, and a gorgeous train, but…. It doesn’t really fit like you want it to. This is a big one: alterations, and they can get expensive. Also, don’t forget the accessories that go along with it: the veil, headpiece, jewelry, and even undergarments.

hidden wedding costs
Have you ever had to send out invitations? If so, you know how expensive paper products can get. If not, you’re in for a real treat. Invitation suites can go up in price immensely so try to stick to the simple pieces and don’t go all out. You will also need to buy stamps, and those aren’t cheap either!

hidden wedding costs
Last but not least, gratuity for your vendors. I think this is a big one a lot of people either forget about or don’t allot for in their budget. This is something I highly recommend to read up on before the big day. Check around at a later date and maybe you’ll find a blog post on it! Wink, wink!!

These are definitely not all of the hidden costs that you may run into when wedding planning, but definitely some that we think here at The Yes Girls were important to point out.
