About Abbie Clinton

I've always been a social person, ever since I was little. People always told my parents that I needed to get out of my shell (kidding, of course!). I've always been very OCD about everything and organizing things from the first step. Those two qualities combined began my love affair with wedding planning. I graduated from The University of Alabama where I studied hospitality management with a concentration in events. I am currently working full time as an Event Manager in San Antonio, Texas, while doing some wedding planning and wedding photography on the side. I've always been in love with love, so you can say I'm quite excited to be working for this amazing company.

How to Customize Your Wedding!

Nowadays weddings are just getting bigger and more elaborate. Everyone wants to outdo the other, but when you think about it, they all kind of run together. When planning your wedding, remember to make it special and unique to you and your significant other. This is really important to consider because remember why you are getting married, and it’s not for one big party. Here are some ways to make your wedding your own and customize it!

    1. Koozies: These are a super big hit with the weddings nowadays. Most bars are serving cold drinks, so pop one of these on and everyone is reppin’ your names!

    1. Napkins: Napkins are a cute way to display your names, dates, etc. They are easy to make and can be done in bulk.
    2. Custom Wedding Monogram: These are so incredible. They can be shown anywhere and everywhere you can imagine. On the the napkins would be adorable, but even better would be on a custom pillow in your lounge area!

    1. Decorations: For your decorations, while framed photos are always a hit, mix it up with custom playing cards! This would be another cute place to add your monogram, but you can also have your engagement pictures printed on the playing cards as well!
    2. Favors: I have seen some very cute favors over the years. Incorporate your new name in a cute riddle tied to a favor, get some M&Ms with your new last name on them, or make it a champagne bottle with a new wrapping saying thank you from the both of you. Oh yeah, and those playing cards from the Decorations Idea would be great “thank yous” too!

  1. Food: This one is by far my favorite and the cutest, I think, but I’m a little biased to grandma’s home-style cooking. Have a catering company willing to make some dishes that are not of their norm? Have grandma or Aunt Jenny to write up the recipe you’ve grown up eating and incorporate it into dinner.   This will give your wedding guests an idea of how the both of you grew up and what you enjoy.

5 Places to Propose in Boston

When I think of Boston, I think of Fenway Park or cold weather, but after some research, I was quickly intrigued. Boston is home to much of our country’s history and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Whether you’re a current resident or planning a trip with your significant other, Boston is a gorgeous, historical town with lots of romantic places to get down on one knee.

Here are some locations to think about:

    • Boston Public Library at Copley Square
With gorgeous architecture, the Boston Public Library is a jaw-dropper. The building combined is 930,000 of pure gorgeousness, but my favorite would have to be the Reading Room in the McKim Building. And if you even want, this was voted one of the most unique wedding venues in Boston!
    • Museum of Science
Say your “under the stars” plan fails because it decides to snow storm. Well, the Museum of Science has got you covered (quite literally). Even though that is just one room, the museum has over 700 interactive exhibits that you could be a part of. Also, you could go outside and do it right on the bank of the Charles River. How stunning?!
    • Fenway Park
Sports fan? Homerun! How perfect would it be to propose at the famous Fenway Park? This would be the most perfect spot for the sports fan couples! The team only allows 1 proposal per game, which happens at the end of the 5th inning, so make sure to book in advance. Fun fact: There are about 64 proposals at Fenway Park EVERY year.

    • Freedom Trail
I have always been a sucker for history, so why not take a stroll on the Freedom Trail and end at Bunker Hill. You’ll get to see 16 different historical sites on the way, and why not give The Yes Girls a call to have a complete set up waiting for you when you arrive!

    • Faneuil Hall
Now what a more gorgeous building to have in the backdrop of your proposal? This building is over 250 years old and is absolutely incredible. Located near the waterfront and sitting in the middle of Government’s Center, it’s a crowd pleaser, for sure.

At Home Date Idea: Let’s Be Kids Again

Most of the time, you realize that it’s been forever since you and your loved one went on a date together. Your schedules are crazy, you just want to relax, or the budget doesn’t allow for it. So that’s where this great blog post comes in. We are starting a new series of At Home Date Ideas and I can’t wait to share the first one with you.

For my first idea I wanted to let out our inner kid behavior, so I’m positive it’ll be a fun one. Start with Mickey Mouse pancakes in bed! Now who wouldn’t want that? Some sausage, orange juice, and maybe spice it up with some Champagne.

Head downstairs and I test you to leave all electronic devices upstairs! Still in your pajamas, gather all the blankets possible. I’m sure you know what’s coming next. FORT TIME! This is so fun and I still enjoy doing it with my significant other. Build a fort in the living room and close all the blinds. So cute and romantic!

By this time, y’all are in the mood for some serious down time. Then pop in a DVD of your childhood favorite movie. Maybe Sleeping Beauty, The Incredibles, or Monsters Inc. (my personal favorite.) Make some buttery popcorn into a big bowl and bring it into your fort. This time together will be restful and recharging; something I’m sure the both of you need.

After the movie, head outside for a brisk walk. Head to the nearest park or down to the river, where y’all can chat and hang out outside. If it’s too cold/hot, do a mini in home workout that has both of you laughing. I’m sure your abs will be hurting more from that. Maybe see who can hold a plank longer?

After that, I’m sure its time to rinse off. So put some bubbles in a nice warm bath and relax. You both need it. Enjoy this time together without any interruptions. Both of you get caught up in everyday life that has you not spending enough time with each other. I hope that you enjoy this post and stayed tuned for the next In Home Date Idea!

Small Ways to Show Your Significant Other You Care

Ever come home from a long day at work just wanting to rest and order in take out, but the dog ripped your favorite pillow, your AC went out, and the kids haven’t done their homework. I’m sure everyone always has those tough days where they just want some kind of comfort and reaffirmation. This would be a great cue to pick up on as a significant other to do something nice for them. Here are some ideas that will make her heart beat 10x faster:

  1. Surprise her by making dinner
When she gets home from a tough day at work, which you already know about from talking with her, she comes into you in the kitchen making dinner. Throw something in the crockpot, put some chicken in the oven, or have steaks out on the grill, this will ensure a happy happy significant other. [Image Credit Link]
  2. Massage at Bed Time
After all the dishes are clean and the kids (dogs, cats, birds) are in bed, tell her to come next to you. Play some music and give her a short massage.
  3. 10 Free Coupon Book
These are always fun to give! 10 Free coupons that they can use whenever they want. Here are some examples: 1) go to a nice dinner, 2) one free massage, 3) foot rub, 4) do the dishes for a week, 5) breakfast in bed. So cute and so simple! [Image Credit Link]
  4. Messages throughout the House
I have always been a sucker for sweet messages from my loved ones! I know you all remembered when your mom used to write on your napkin for your school lunch. How about do this around the house? Messages on the bathroom mirror, in the refrigerator, on her favorite DVD case, or on her nightstand. These simple gestures can sure go a long way. [Image Credit Link]
  5. Spa Day
Now every girl (or guy) needs a spa day once in a while. Book an appointment for your significant other on a day where you know they are completely free. Give them the day off by letting them have a stress free day by themselves (or with friends). [Image Credit Link]

These are only a few ways to make your significant other feel special. You should be making them feel special each and everyday. Thanks for checking in!
