I honestly doubt that I could ever find the perfect words to describe just how much I love this couple. It was pretty incredible to watch one of my best friends get engaged; it felt like yesterday we were 7th graders daydreaming about our proposals and weddings (of course at that time the husband was just a minor detail). Nevertheless, it brings me so much joy to share this proposal story. I know you will just fall in love with them too. Cheers to another Yes Girl getting engaged to her Mr. Right and who better to tell the story than Lindsay herself. The fabulous photos below are courtesy of Mark Fore Photography and Kyle Vaughn (my hubby). Stay tuned for their proposal video coming soon!
Lindsay’s Story:
I am still living in the glow of John’s proposal! It was simply the best day ever..and not just because it was an amazingly romantic proposal, but because it means I get to marry John now.
Well what can I say about that day? It couldn’t have been more me, more perfect, more filled with love. It was beyond anything I could have dreamed of. That day I thought we were just doing a simple day of wine tasting in the beautiful Napa Valley. When we arrived at Tamber Bey, I was ready to get my taste on, and was quickly distracted by the beauty of the gardens and estate. In my periphery I saw a display of gorgeous pink roses (my favorite) and ribbons hanging from the tree. “This place is so beautiful, maybe that’s just what they do here,” I thought. It wasn’t until I saw my favorite photo of John and I that I realized… “oh my gosh, something is happening.” I started shaking and thinking, “This is that moment. That moment I’ve been dreaming of ever since I knew I was in love with John.” So I walked toward it and from there it all seems like a dream…
I see a mirror and written on it are the words “My promises to you…” so I look and see that all the ribbons have a beautiful card at the end of it with a promise written on it. This was my favorite part; words of commitment like “I promise to be strong for us when life tries to wear us out” and “always seek after God’s heart and follow him” were hanging from that tree. There were about 20 like that hanging from the tree. Tears were definitely flowing at this point. Then I see this key next to a beautiful rustic cabinet with our initials engraved in it that reads, “read my promises to you in the trees before opening.” So I open the cabinet, and out falls all these beautiful pink rose petals and I see the last promise, “I promise to marry you.” It took my breath away. So I turn around and here comes John, my white knight, walking up the path towards me. He grabs my hands and expresses his love, commitment, and excitement about us. I’m hoping we videotaped this because frankly I was so happy it’s hard to remember his exact words. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I felt so much joy I could hardly say yes. It was an amazing moment I’ll never forget. So John and I celebrate and kiss and then he turns me around to see some of our very best friends, friends that flew in from all over to share this moment with us. That just meant the world to me. So as if everything that had happened wasn’t enough, I find out that he hired a photographer who’d be taking our engagement photos. So after celebrating with friends, John and I did a little photo shoot. I just love that the joy of being engaged will be fresh on our face in those pictures. Amazing.
As we wrap up the photos, here comes surprise number 1,001 it felt like…a limo pulls up that’s going to take us all wine tasting for the rest of the day. I felt like I was on Oprah’s favorite things feeling swept away with excitement. The fact that John (and the Yes Girls) would go to such great lengths to make the day so amazingly special just flooded me with love. So we all get in the limo and head off to go celebrate some more at Sullivan Winery. We had such a lovely time there. We sat in a beautiful terrace, tasted wine, and we beamed with joy. I felt like shouting to everyone I saw, “we’re engaged!” I opened cards from my best friend and my mom (who couldn’t make it up) and just loved their kind words and excitement for John and I.
Well of course I could go on and on about how wonderful it was to sip wine in a gorgeous winery with my new fiance and some of our best friends; but I’ll wrap it up by saying it was just such a joyous and fun time. After about an hour or so, and after John purchased some wine for us to look back on and celebrate with, we headed off to the next spot.
Part II:
Don’t stop reading the story yet, because it keeps getting better! Heather had apparently made reservations at the next place and we needed to get going to make it in time. So we get in the limo and shortly arrive at V. Sattui. This place was packed. Beautiful, but packed…so I just remember thinking I’m so thankful they have a reservation. Well we start walking toward the gorgeous fountain and garden in the entryway when all the sudden I hear the start of a song…
“Love, Love, Love.”
“Hmm that was weird, maybe some kind of event is going on,” I think.
The singing gets louder, “Love, Love, Love.” “Huh?” What’s happening?”
And even louder, “Love, love, love, love, love, love, love.” And then…
