Simple, thoughtful and a whole lot of prettiness sums up this proposal we assisted Alex with this past weekend. Alex loved the idea of giving his girlfriend, Molly, a simple, romantic picnic to propose back in her hometown; however he didn’t want the cliche proposal ideas he found skimming the web. He found a harmonious balance between simple and romantic without crossing over into cheesy.
One of Molly’s dreams is to plant her own garden. She is an avid reader so I could see how reading amongst a garden an ideal setting. After Alex finished some “work” he and Molly headed to meet her family for dinner. Instead of arriving at a restaurant, she showed up to her dream proposal. A quaint picnic area was set up for just her and Alex. Food from their first date, two cups of hot tea awaited them on a blanket. Surrounding the blanket were flower pots filled with tiny buds. Each pot had a tag that listed the plant/flower and a word of affirmation that described her personality. For instance, a small pot of lilies said “nurturing” and the hydrangeas were tagged with “sincere.” He wanted to help her start her dream garden! In the middle of all the gorgeous flowers was her favorite love story, Anne of Green Gables, marked with a gerbera daisy another favorite of hers. Inside the book she found a note from Alex explaining how each of those words on the flower pots represented qualities he hoped to find one day in a wife; he shared how she quickly exceeded all his expectations. That’s when he asked Molly to spend forever with him! A simply written proposal amongst an enchanting home-made garden had all the fixings for the perfect “she said yes” moment. Congrats again Molly and Alex!
