It’s an understatement to say just how much I LOVE these pieces!! For a vintage ring lover like myself… these are truly a ‘perfect fit’! I know I say this quite often, but it was extremely difficult (no exaggeration) to pick just a few of my favorites to post, for they were all beautiful and unique! Check these out…
Domed Wonder: 2.10 ct. Diamond Bombé Ring; Circa 1950 for mount; earlier 20th century for the center diamond. There are forms in the history of jewelry which have and will fade from memory while others remain or will become timeless. One of those forms which became quite popular during the Art Deco period is the bombé ring in which both sides of the ring curve or bulge outwardly to create a dome-like structure.
This dome ring features an old European cut diamond of an estimated 2.10 carats (K-L color; SI2 clarity) set within a gorgeous open work mount of 18k white gold. Surrounding the sumptuous central gem are thirty-six (36) transitional and single cut diamonds with a total estimated weight of .87 carats (G-H color; SI1-2 clarity) in the open work dome.
Elysian Dreams in an F Color Diamond Ring; Circa 1915. Perfection personified it is! In this this superb Edwardian platinum ring set with a round cushion cut diamond (with slightly squared edges) of 1.53 carats. Whiter than white in an F color and with VS1 clarity you will see nothing but sheer dazzle in this diamond. The main diamond is not only marvelous but is unusual with a facet structure which maximizes visual size to appear as almost 2.25 carats (or more!) of pure white geometry! In addition, the diamond is exceedingly brilliant because of its specific cut. All in all, you have never seen a diamond such as this one – nor will you find another especially in an antique diamond of this size with very high color and clarity.
The magnificent diamond is set within an equally radiant mille grained platinum setting of very fine metal work embellished with twenty-four (24) old single cut diamonds. This type of Edwardian mount, highly coveted and prized is quite scarce in today’s market.
All Wrapped Up – Evocative Emerald Diamond Ring; Earlier 20th century. A most evocative emerald with an exceptionally vivid deep green hue creates a hypnotic setting for this platinum ring. An oval natural emerald cabochon of approximately 2.75 carats presents with fine saturation and color and wondrous contrast against a mount of mille grain accented platinum. At each side a bow motif dotted with single cut diamonds wraps around the emerald in a passionate embrace of precious metal.
Curved shoulders studded with additional single cut diamonds part only to segue into a reeded band highlighted with mille grain detail. In all, eighteen (18) single cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of .18 carats give brilliance and prismatic color in harmony with the emerald cabochon. Two (2) small fancy cut natural emeralds contribute a dash of color to each side.
Vintage Advantage in a Diamond Ring; Circa 1950. Post war prosperity meant a shift back to the opulence of gems and precious metals. Here we see an example of the jeweler’s art using an estimated .15 carat brilliant cut diamond (I-J color; VS2-SI1 clarity) and two single cut diamonds with a total diamond weight of .03 carats set in 14k white gold to create the visual of diamonds larger than the actual weight. The white gold set diamonds are against a lovely pierced and open work mount of 14k yellow gold decorated with nicely appointed designs.
