Now that you’re engaged, or close to embarking on that journey, it’s only a matter of time before a slight overwhelming sensation of to do’s begins to surface. Where on earth do you start? There are photographers, dresses, venues, caterers, and save-the-dates to be found. How do you conquer the wedding planning adventure without losing your mind or day job? Simplify it!

Step 1: Choose your wedding date

Step 2: Set your budget

Step 3: Find your venue

Step 4: Get an estimated guest count

Step 5: Hire your wedding coordinator

Setting your budget is key; that in itself gives you direction. The wonderful thing is, you can do these first few steps in or out of order. You may care more about your venue than you do your wedding date; therefore you’ll want to choose your venue with your estimated guest count in mind in order to accommodate your guest list. Sometimes plans simply depend on whether your venue is available on the specific date you have in mind. That being said, it’s best to either be flexible with your venue or wedding date (just in case). If you’re considering hiring a wedding coordinator (which we naturally recommend) s/he can help you find your venue. The coordinator should have a list of venue options according to your vision, which will simplify your search and save you time. If you find the right wedding planner for you, s/he will save you money in the long run with their vendor referrals and relationships without you compromising on quality.

Still don’t know your style? Find The Dress.

If you’re a bit intimidated by the vast amounts of venue styles and design elements you see daily on blogs, then it’s again best to simplify. Many brides find it easier to envision their wedding venue or find their muse once they find the “one”, aka the wedding dress. Clearly you already found the man (which let’s be serious, in many cases is much more difficult). Trying on wedding dresses was by far one of my favorite things. It’s whimsical. The feel of intricate fabrics and beading, ball gown or trumpet, it’s the time to try them all! Enjoy the search; it will conveniently start to narrow in on your wedding style.

I hope this helps simplify the beginning stages of wedding planning and creates an excitement that surpasses any anxiety! Feel free to contact us at heather@lovetheyesgirls.com or leave a comment below with any questions!
