With a growing presence in the collections of famous designers and worn by many models and influencers, silk has become one of the most used fabrics in clothing.

If you’re looking for a flowing and breezy dress for a party or engagement ceremony or your potential proposal, a silk dress checks many boxes simultaneously.

Here are some reasons to invest in suitable silk dresses, pants, and blouses for your special day:

Stand out from other fabrics.

At first glance, it’s apparent that silk clothes stand out from other fabrics for their comfort and delicate material. Wearing silk clothes means you are in contact with a smooth, silky, soft fabric that has an elegant, supple, soft, and kind material to the skin.

It allows the skin to breathe.

Comfortable and light, silk allows the skin to breathe in the summer and keep warm in the cold of winter. During the summer, silk garments suppress perspiration and eliminate heat quickly and easily. So, you stay relaxed and comfortable in your outfit! Silk has natural moisturizing properties and can help retain moisture on the skin, and this can help prevent dry skin and keep it supple and soft.

Absolutely no ironing.

If you hate ironing your clothes, you’d want to invest more in silk. Silk is often used to make shirts, skirts, trousers, scarves and ties, and beautiful dresses like those on Lunya. It requires no ironing before being folded and packed in your wardrobe or suitcase. This is a definite game changer that will save you precious time.

It also helps to protect the skin.

Silk also protects our skin from UV rays and their negative effects and has natural properties against mold and bacteria. Silk can regulate body temperature, allowing the skin to breathe while providing thermal insulation.

It’s a good choice if you have allergies.

Another undeniable advantage of silk clothing is that it is hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and ideal for allergy sufferers and asthmatics. The silky texture of silk is very gentle on the skin, which can help prevent irritation and chafing.

Durable and eco-friendly.

Silk is very strong and lasts a long time, even with regular use. It may cost you slightly more during your first-time purchase, but it keeps long in your wardrobe with proper care. This is value for money in the long run. It’s also an eco-friendly fiber and a perfect alternative to artificial fabric, especially if you are trying to make more conscience decisions with your fashion. Silk is a biodegradable natural fiber, making it more environmentally friendly than the other materials we use to make our clothes and objects. Just make sure to purchase silk from eco-responsible companies and manufacturers.

Silk for day and night!

Silk is one of the oldest textile fibers in the world, and it is defined as a natural fiber. Silk thread is a continuous yarn of excellent strength, comparable to steel wire of the same cross-section. Silk has been renowned for its strength, finesse, and nobility for thousands of years. Apart from dresses, robes, shirts, and ties, silk is a big hit for items to use at night:

Night masks

Silk is present in several items that can aid in a blissful sleep at night. There are night masks to hide your eyes from the possible brightness that can occur at night. It is advisable to use a silk night mask so that your eyes are not exposed to other materials that can dry them out or accentuate the appearance of sleep wrinkles.

Pillowcases

There are also silk pillowcases. Silk pillowcases are practical, especially for women, if you sleep with loose hair. Sleeping with your hair loose can damage your ends considerably. It is recommended to braid or tie your hair in a high, loose bun. If you don’t like sleeping with your hair tied up, you can always invest in silk pillowcases. They won’t irritate your face as well as not damaging your hair.

Silk hair turbans

Hats are placed in the hair. If you don’t want to invest in silk pillowcases, you can spend your nights with a turban that holds your hair in place at night. These turbans have elastics that allow them to stay on your head without coming off in the middle of the night.

Silk hair elastics

In addition to the items mentioned above, there are also silk elastics. More precisely, we call them “scrunchies.” Silk scrunchies are practical if you want to tie your hair up, as ordinary elastic could damage and break it if it’s too tight. Using a silk scrunchie will keep your hair silky and healthy.

Where does silk come from?

The origin of silk has the charm of a pretty tale.

History has it that silk was discovered by Hsi Ling Shi, Empress of China, in 2640 BC. The story goes that she was having tea in her palace garden in the shade of a mulberry tree. Suddenly, a small white ball fell into her cup: it was a silkworm cocoon! It opened in hot water and revealed its magnificent shiny threads to the Empress. Hsi Ling Shi had discovered silk thread! The cultivation of mulberry bombyx became a jealously guarded activity in China. Fortunately for us, those days are long gone!

How do I care for silk garments?

To hand-wash a silk garment, the idea is to immerse it in warm or cold water using a mild soap. Stir gently with your hands to allow the water to penetrate the fibers. Avoid wringing or rubbing a silk garment; never leave it to soak in water for more than 5 minutes.

When machine-washing silk garments, we recommend using a delicate program at a low temperature, particularly 30°C. You should also use a detergent specially designed for silk and avoid using stain removers.

Although silk has long been hidden from the world, its popularity is growing constantly, and more and more people choose silk daily. Silk has everything you need… from silk dresses, ensembles, kimonos, trousers, bags, and nightwear!
