I have been dying to share these photos and details from our friend Melissa’s tea bridal shower. Our hope was to transform the backyard into a whimsical and anthropology-esk space that the bride-to-be would fall in love with immediately. Gaging her reaction, I would say the shower was a definite success and the company was wonderful. The big floppy hats were not only a fun decor element but they came in handy during a Summer day in June!
What I love most about designing showers is finding the details, big or small, that make it personal. Everything from the furniture to the rock candy stir sticks had Melissa’s name written all over it. We set up a make-shift photo shoot area in honor of the bride, a talented and aspiring photographer, for all the guests to enjoy and remember the afternoon. The green desk was a piece from my bedroom that was used for guests to write a word that best described Melissa. While we sipped tea and ate our yummy tea sandwiches, guests began to share the “word” they chose for Melissa which usually followed with an endearing and/or funny story.
We arranged all the florals in tea tins to bring more color and life to the vintage white table cloths. The tea cups, which doubled as the guests’ favors, brought character to each place setting. The chairs/bench were a collection from various dining room tables which played perfectly into our theme. Throughout the yard, oversized tissue flowers looked as if they were blooming from the bushes and trees. The cupcake table was embellished with crates that sat amongst a bed of babies breath, as if the desserts were floating on a cloud of goodness. Most importantly, Melissa got to spend quality time with friends and family being showered with love and gifts from a group that absolutely adores her.
Even with the Summer heat, it was a perfect afternoon! Vendors: Event Design and Florals by The Yes Girls Events / Cupcakes from Cinderella Cakes.
