I am totally obsessed with themed engagement shoots. Each picture is like it own little story with so many details to fawn over. We fell in love with the gorgeous, winter inspired engagement shoot by Jessica Elizabeth Photography. It is vintage prettiness meets modern romance, and just plain eye candy.

Words from Jessica:

Angela and Brandon had been dating for SEVEN years before they got engaged.  So when we were storyboarding their Engagement Session, we knew it just had to be epic.  From the backdrop to the flowers, months of research, planning, and design went into what you now see.

We scouted out several locations in Mt. Baldy, Big Bear, and even Palm Springs before we found that perfect spot.  That perfect setting was in Big Bear Lake, CA, with an open field of snow right next to the frozen lake and the summit in the background.

We thought it would be pretty awesome to introduce the timeless setting of the living room to the shoot.  The integral piece to the set design was the couch.  We visited numerous antique stores and thrift stores looking for just the right couch.  When we saw this 1887 blue and ivory couch with the ornate wood backing, we just had to have it.

The florals contained antique blush lavender roses, burgundy chrysanthemums, dusty miller and authentic antique crystals to convey the vintage tone.   Bear grass and burgundy succulents conveyed a modern feel. Sky blue hydrangeas, imported from New Zealand, and blue anemones were added for a punch of color.

Our goal was for this ‘Winter Romance’ to be theatrical, out of the ordinary, and poetic.
