With summer here and new relationships popping up like wild flowers I thought it might be a fun idea to share some simple first date tips! Now, while I am most definitely a self proclaimed hopeless romantic, I do have to say, I am no expert when it comes to dating… so these are just in my opinion. Take em or leave em, either way, happy Monday everyone :)
First date tip #1- ASK HER! I know this sounds silly, but I can’t tell you how many times I have been out with a guy and the whole time I’m thinking, “is this a date, or are we just two people grabbing dinner together?” Yeah, that makes it REAL easy to focus on the conversation… NOT! So when you ask the girl out to get coffee, or grab drinks after work, please please please use the word date in there somewhere!
First date tip #2- MAKE IT PUBLIC. While cooking for her at your place is very romantic, it can be a touch overwhelming for a first date. My suggestion would be something quick and open. Starbucks is a great place for a “getting to know you first date”, or grabbing a beer at the happy hour down the street from your office is great too! Just make sure there is no pressure and it’s a fun atmosphere! Maybe even check out a local, more hipster coffee shop like this one that I love here in Dallas! First date tip #3- PERSONALIZE IT! Chances are you’ve at least had a conversation with this girl before you ask her on the date, so if she has mentioned she loves Italian food, go to an Italian cafe… or if she loves the color pink, bring a single pink flower to give to her. Just like in a marriage proposal, all the little details are what make it special.
First date tip #4- BE A GENTLEMAN. This one is nonnegotiable. Pick the girl up (and don’t just honk when you arrive, or text her that you’re here, go and ring the dang doorbell). Open the doors for her (including the car door). Pay for the date. Yep, I’m gonna say it again, pay for the date. Chivalry may be old fashion, but it has worked for hundreds of years and who are you to mess with history? (image from blacksheeponline.com)

[…] (I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH THIS ONE… but who am I to argue with Yahoo? I mean, 2 weeks ago we talked about you guys needing to be a little more chivalrous on the first date, and now women are asking […]
