Hunter is a romantic at heart so when it came to his marriage proposal, brainstorming ideas was endless fun. On his first date with Adrienne they spent some time talking under a big oak tree in NYC. The next day, he volunteered to help clean out a school and found one of his favorite childhood books The Giving Tree. It reminded him of the tree from his first date with Adrienne and decided to hold onto it. Years later his proposal idea took place in an apple picking orchard inspired by The Giving Tree.

What Adrienne didn’t know was Hunter sent a few items to the orchard for the surprise of her life. During apple picking, she was stunned when they came across a big apple tree decorated with hanging twinkle lights and mason jars filled with candles (battery-operated to make it easy). The real surprise were the five Giving Tree books hanging from various branches. Inside each of the book covers was dedicated to a memory of Adrienne and how her promised to provide and take care of her just like the book. Lastly, he pulled out his original copy, and told her the story behind keeping the book for her to have one day. Inside the cover was a photo of the exact tree they sat under on their first date along with another dedication… to their future as husband and wife.  Without hesitation, she said “Yes!” and they enjoyed an engagement picnic under their “giving tree.”

I get a few butterflies when I envision their proposal story unfolding. I wouldn’t be surprised if that book is framed in their home. Oh and something we suggested was homemade jars of apple sauce as their wedding favors. How cute would that be?!! Congrats to the beautiful couple. You’re lovely.

Love,
