Now being married for a little over a month I thought I would share the three things that you do more together in a month than you do in a whole year.

1. Eating Dinner At Home. You start to treasure getting to spend that time together. It may be the only time in your whole day that you get to spend quality time together. Even if you don’t love to cook, it is something you get to do together! Tommy and I have enjoyed the moments in our tiny kitchen when we keep bumping into each other as he loads the dishes and I put the leftovers in the fridge.

2. Go to Ikea, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Macy’s and Home Depot. Yes we all occasionally go to these stores, but in the first month of marriage you go to these stores at least once a week. Whether you are returning something, buying bedside tables, curtains, trash cans, paint and cleaning supplies. You start to with there was a store called IK-Targ-Beyond-Macy-Depot so you go have a one stop shop. I do try to treasure these moments, but most the time it’s me picking up random items that aren’t on our list and Tommy telling me to stay focused and put the item down!

3. Putting Together Furniture That is Most Likely Missing a Piece. Last Sunday Tommy and I made a pact that we would take a break from screwing anymore screws into wood that doesn’t even have the correct size hole. The first month, you tend to buy furniture pieces that come with a manual with the worst steps ever and only pictures! Why do they only give us pictures? Yes, I am a visual learner, but these things looks like kids drew them. You purchase the item from the store hoping that it has all the pieces A-Z you need. Currently, we have an unfinished bathroom cabinet in our living room because we are waiting for the two letter D shelves that were missing in our box to be sent to us. This may be a more frustrating part in the first month of marriage, but you do feel a sense of achievement when that bad boy is done! But below is how I feel most of the time assembling these things!

If you have any other great first month of marriage tips I would love to hear them! Please leave them in the comments below!

Love,
