I cringe when watching proposals gone wrong. Truly it’s like a bad car accident. It’s so awful and the worst are public proposals that end in a no. You would think they would just say yes to appease the crowd and not leave their guys in total embarrassment. I don’t typically like to share stories like these but I think some can be a good lesson for guys preparing to pop the question, especially in public.
Be careful who you involve. Friends and family are typically trustworthy but if you involve a reporter and camera crew make sure s/he knows exactly what to say. You do not want s/he to announce the proposal before you even ask the question!

When you are considering where you are going to “hide” the ring, make sure it’s in a place completely secure. I can’t emphasize this enough, insure her engagement ring the moment you purchase it with your bank. I feel so bad for this couple!

You do not have to give away when or where you’re proposing but nowadays it’s vital that you at least discuss marriage. Make sure you two are on the same page. Just because you’re ready to walk down the aisle doesn’t mean she is. Please guys, avoid this.

This proposal would have been really sweet. He planned on having a proposal slideshow play during a church sermon. However, the woman he was asking to marry him wasn’t in the congregation! Make sure you’re lady is with you and in the vicinity when you start your proposal.

Painful to watch I know. Just use them as forewarnings. We will counteract these bad proposals with successful “yeses!”
Love,
