A marriage proposal in Boulder, Colorado! Finally! Chautauqua Park brings back so many memories from college days at CU Boulder so it was pretty rewarding to plan a proposal where I graduated and then left to start The Yes Girls journey! It didn’t hurt either that Bill and Amara’s engagement was STUNNING and the vendors were so much fun to work with! Bill was eager to make his marriage proposal to Amara nothing less than memorable so between her love of flowers, personalized inside jokes scripted on signs, a musician to serenade the song from their first date, a breathtaking engagement ring, and the dusty snow fall at one of their favorite locations in Colorado, he did good! We give him a big round of applause.

3 Ways To Personalize Your Holiday Marriage Proposal

Thinking about proposing over the holidays? If you have family coming into town or your visiting family during the holidays, it can be the ideal time to pop the question. Holiday marriage proposals can be some of the most magical and memorable if the hustle and bustle of traveling doesn’t get to you! Here are a few simple ways to personalize your holiday proposal while still leaving the option to incorporate family (or invite them to celebrate after if that’s more your style)!

3 Ways to Personalize Your Holiday Marriage Proposal:

1. Favorite Moments Photo Book

Whether you are the couple who are loves of the outdoors or prefers dressing up and hitting Broadway, all couples have special memories together. Put together a book of favorite memories that brought you to this “down on one knee” moment! There are multiple options out there but Shutterfly and Blurb are two of our favorites for user-friendly, quick, and quality designed photo books.

2. Monogramed & Photo Christmas Stocking

There is something undeniably exciting about opening a Christmas stocking! Whether you are 2 or 32, little surprises can be the best ones. Try filling a stocking with her favorite things (candies, make-up, tickets, etc). Instead of putting the items inside a typical knitted stocking, have it monogramed or printed with a photo of the two of you so it’s a forever keepsake. Here are some options of photo Christmas stockings and monogramed stockings.

3. Personalized Photo Pillow

Bring in the warm and fuzzy feeling for your engagement! Whether you plan to propose indoors next to the fireplace and Christmas tree or you’re renting out a rooftop that overlooks your city’s skyline, throwing in a few personalized photo pillows is an easy way to make your proposal more thoughtful! Bonus- you can use the pillow(s) in your future home as family room or bedroom decor.

Mondays for Men: Be Thankful!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner I thought we would spend today reminding everyone that this time of year is about so much more then food and football (hard to believe, I know). Remember to focus on family and friends this year: the traditions that you grew up with in your family, the fond memories, the crisp fall air… all of it :)

Here are some fun visual reminders of our thankfulness each year! Try doing one of these with your leading lady and see how much she loves it!

Gray and Yellow Couple’s Shower by The Yes Girls

We’ve seen Ryan and Karley get engaged and today we dive into the photos from their gray and yellow picnic couple’s shower! I have planned too many bridal and baby showers to count but I had never decorated and planned a couple’s shower before theirs! We ended up incorporating pieces from their engagement along with cute DIY’s for her and relay games for him. Overall I think the shower was a success! It looked beautiful but still had a laid-back vibe with the outdoor picnic theme! We love you Ryan and Karley and can’t wait until you tie the knot on March 13, 2015!

Wedding Wednesday: Brides Tell All

how to plan the perfect wedding

Today’s bride is Caitlyn Jurica from Dallas, Texas! Here is what she had to say about her big day, and tips for future brides…

I got married on August 16, 2014 in Dallas, Texas at Highland Park United Methodist Church and my reception was in the ballroom of the lovely Warwick Melrose Hotel. Let me tell you now, the cliché of it being the best day of your life is 100% true. I know it’s hard to believe with all the hype around it, but there’s nothing quite like everyone you love in one room celebrating your love and new marriage. It’s totally magical. Soak it up.

RECOMMENDATION:

Don’t take things too personally! I planned most of my wedding by myself, so I had personally chosen every single detail that came alive on my wedding day. When someone made even a slightly off-handed comment about anything, I’d get personally offended. Now that I’m serving as a bridesmaid for several friends, I’m seeing how little others really mean by commenting on your choices. They will have choices you don’t agree with either. Everyone has different opinions and that’s what makes each wedding different and exciting!

REGRET:

DO NOT skimp on things that are important to you. I did A LOT of research on pricing and quality. I ended up settling for a photo/video package that was as expensive as most photo packages alone. Thinking the national chain I used bundled the two to make a more enticing deal, I figured it would be okay. It wasn’t. I spent countless hours going back and forth with the editors on my pictures and video. I was done planning the wedding and this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. It was such a headache. I chose this as my biggest regret because pictures and videos were what I was looking forward to the most. I actually skimped on the flower budget as well and was very happy I did so. It’s definitely a matter of preference. If you want great pictures though, swallow the cost and pay for them. Don’t cut corners in areas you truly care about.

Veterans Day 2014

We wish you a big Happy Veterans Day to all, but an even bigger THANK YOU to all the men and women who have bravely served our country. You sacrificially put your lives on the line for all of us and while one day cannot accurately thank you enough, let it at least be a reminder.

Football Wedding Proposal Tips

Are you trying to incorporate football into your “will you marry me” moment? Well Kendall, one of our Orange County proposal planners, posted these four tips a couple of years ago and they are too good to not share again! Remember to only have a “football themed proposal” if your girlfriend loves football as much as you do. Otherwise, you can somehow work in your love of the game without making it the main focus (since this big question really is about the both of you)!

  • Create your own football tailgate personalized to your relationship.
  • Rent out the football stadium, have the whole field lit, accompanied by candles and dinner for two on a blanket in the middle of the field.
  • Write all the things you love about her on a football.
  • Buy her her favorite football team’s jersey, write “her new last name” on the back and the date you proposed for the jersey number.
