Three and a half years ago, my father passed away very suddenly, so when Aaron and I met a year after that it was still pretty fresh. I have always said to Aaron that I’m sad he never was able to meet my dad, and I was especially bummed when it came time to ask permission to marry me. He did the right thing and of course asked for my mom’s permission, but it would have been even better if my dad could have been given that honor as well.

My absolute favorite part of our entire proposal was this beautiful three-foot canvas that Aaron had a calligrapher create. It is the sweetest, most genuine letter from Aaron to my father. Get your tissues out ladies, because I was SOBBING when Aaron read this out loud to me. (It’s a little difficult to make out, so make sure to check back on Tuesday when we release the proposal video – you can hear Aaron read the whole thing out loud.)
