Before I dive into another amazing proposal story, I want to wish Becca a very happy 26th birthday! Wish we were there to celebrate with you!!
The day before Ben proposed, we hired a videographer to piece together a few pre-proposal moments such as Ben picking out the ring and visiting his soon-to-be “proposal” venue. He shared his thoughts about proposing and all the many reasons, big and small, he knew Kate was the one! We came up with the Central Park Zoo to play off an inside joke about getting engaged in Alaska. Kate has always wanted to go on an Alaskan Cruise, specifically to see the polar bears. For the proposal, Ben brought a little piece of Alaska to Kate before the real deal…an Alaskan cruise on their honeymoon!
After a casual breakfast together in New York City, Kate and Ben headed off to the NYC Zoo. Ben is in the military and explained the Zoo was giving away free tickets on base to honor military families. It worked like a charm and the soon-to-be engaged couple were off to see the polar bears, Kate’s favorite!
Ben played off this “giveaway” and when they arrived at the penguin and polar bear exhibit a staff member greeted them for a private tour. They walked through the various rooms learning facts about the Arctic life. At one of their stops, Ben excused himself for the mens room. The staff member drew her attention towards the tv monitor which started out as another informational video but quickly turned to Ben’s face. It was the special pre-proposal video he created; she got to watch all the different elements that went into the proposal, people involved, and finally Ben’s thoughts on why he wanted to propose to Kate in the polar bear exhibit. The video ended with Ben on one knee. Quickly searching for Ben, the staff member led Kate out front to find all her family and friends standing in front of the penguin tank, where Ben awaited her “yes!”
Super thoughtful? I’d say so! Congrats again to Ben and Kate. Enjoy your dream honeymoon!
