Invited to a Proposal?
Here is How to be the Perfect Guest!
Your loved one is getting engaged and you have been invited to witness! It is an honor to be a part of such a monumental moment in someone’s life, and such a big sign of how much you mean to the couple. Here are some tips on how to help the couple create the most perfect day and reciprocate the love.
1. Be Timely Throughout the Process
As soon as you receive the invitation from your loved one, start looking at your calendar! It is important to RSVP on time whether you plan to attend or not as guest count determines a lot in the planning process. For the event, follow the timeline as closely as possible to ensure you are able to witness the entire proposal without spoiling the surprise.
2. Respect Traditions and Requests
Whether religious, cultural, or specific to the couple, be sure to be aware of any traditions the couple wishes to include in their big day. Feel free to ask in advance if there are any specific wishes and if they would like you to share this information with the remainder of the guest list (as proposal guest lists are usually small).
3. Follow Rules and Regulations
Be mindful of where the proposal is taking place and make note of the venue’s rules and regulations. Never bring outside food, drink, or decor to the proposal unless requested by the couple and approved by the venue as this could harm the big moment.
4. Social Media
Pictures are the perfect way to remember a moment forever. Be sure, however, to check with the couple on what photos they are comfortable with you taking as a proposal is a very intimate moment. And remember, the couple will most likely want to share the big news with those not invited and on social media first, so wait your turn to post!
5. The Yes Girls Inside Tip!
We at The Yes Girls believe the best way to keep guests organized is to assign one guest as the go-to. This person will have all the information and requests from the couple as well as any day of details, timelines, rules, etc. and will pass it on to all others. Everyone will be organized and the couple will not have to worry about logistics on their big day.
6. Be Positive and Supportive
This is an incredible time for the beautiful couple and such an honor to share with others. From the moment a guest arrives to the moment they leave, all should be positive, supportive and full of excitement. A proposal is one of life’s biggest milestones and one we all want to preserve in the highest light. Cheers to a forever love!
