The Yes Girls and Gerry had to get quite creative with this proposal, but it turns out it was pretty darn unique. Gerry flew out to Las Vegas to help his gal pack up and move to California. The two of them were finally ditching long distance! What Karen didn’t know is she would leave engaged. She was picking up and leaving all her friends and family behind, so as you can imagine, it was important to recognize her loving act.

Gerry planned one last date night for him and Karen in her city before moving to Cali. That evening, Gerry handed her a shoebox; I should mention she has a major shoe fetish! Inside she found herself a new pair of high heels with a note that said, “Thank you for taking a ‘step’ of faith for our relationship and moving to be with me.” Excited, she wore her new heels out on the town. A private driver arrived at her apartment to take them to the Charlie Palmer Restaurant, their first date spot. He spent the evening wooing her and enjoying a night in the city.

When they got home, he pointed out a moving box hidden between all her other boxes. It was labeled “Life at Gerry’s House.” Karen having no clue where the box came from, looked at Gerry confused. He told her to see what was inside. Gerry previously filled the moving box with thoughtful items to help make the transition easier from Vegas to LA. She carefully unwrapped the orange and pink tissue paper (her favorite colors) around every item. She found date cards with places he wanted to take her in LA,  photos from their trip to visit her family in Israel with a note explaining how much he loved her family and how he can’t wait to become a family with her. She found a scuba diving mask for their honeymoon, and a pre-paid dance class at an LA studio (he knew how much she’d miss her dance classes in Vegas). Lastly, she found slippers in a shoebox with a note that said, “With your new high heels you’re taking a step of faith and hopefully these slippers will bring you comfort in your new home with me.”

That is when he read a poem (he had been working on it for weeks) and asked her to be his wife! Even a city like Las Vegas can be helplessly romantic. Congrats again Gerry and Karen!

Love,
