Running for Love

Lacy is a marathon runner junkie. She lives and breathes running and absolutely loves it. Darin supports her passion but isn’t quite a runner himself so when he joined her for a half marathon it was a pure act of love. When we heard he was training with her and doing it just to participate in something she was so passionate about, we thought, that is what real love is all about; doing something your partner loves simply because s/he loves it. His proposal was simple yet so thoughtful it gives me chills!

The evening before their half marathon, he told Lacy they could watch her favorite movie Runaway Bride to prepare her for the race (I’ll explain the correlation later).  After the movie, he handed her a wrapped shoe box as a good luck gift for tomorrow. She unwrapped the pretty paper and pulled out new running shoes, which had her nickname “Happy Feet” embroidered on the heels of the shoes. Excited, she immediately wanted to try them on and found a love letter hidden inside the shoe.  As she put on her new shoes and finished reading her letter, he pointed out he got a new pair as well. However, instead of his nickname on the shoes, his said “Marry Me?” across his heels!  Do you remember the running shoe scene in Runaway Bride when Julia Roberts hands over her running shoes to Richard Gere when she proposes to him? Simply romantic!
