Places to Propose in Washington, D.C.

When I think of Washington, D.C., I think of history, and I think most of us do. So this is a perfect city for those that always were on top of their A game in History class, or just love the pretty scenery, because that in itself is a winner.

    • The Tidal Basin
Now, this location is a given. The Tidal Basin is one of the most gorgeous locations in all of D.C. The Cherry Blossom Trees are a Washington DC legend so if you choose the right time it can be absolutely breathtaking. Walking through with your soulmate in the most beautiful atmosphere serves as the flawless location and you can go paddle boarding or even bring a picnic. (Image Credit)

Bring a picnic and sip some bubbly to watch all the life around you at the National Mall. This would be a very romantic yet simple place to pop the question.
    • Key Bridge
The Key Bridge is located above the Potomac River and serves as a gorgeous and unexpected location. Take a stroll over the bridge and when the time is right overlooking the river, get down on one knee. Your new bride will be swept off her feet! (Image Credit)

    • Martin’s Tavern
If you are a history buff, this is the one for you. Within Martin’s Tavern is a special spot called the “Proposal Booth.” This booth is where JFK proposed to Jackie and would be the perfect location to swoon your new bride.
    • Hillwood Estate
For the couple that loves nature, this is the most gorgeous setting. With trees for miles and gorgeous hideaway spots, this is sure to WOW your girl. (Image Credit)

Nashville Garden Marriage Proposal by The Yes Girls

nashville tn marriage proposal planners

Catherine actually suggested us to her boyfriend, Francis; so when he called us he had some pretty big expectations of our work! In his questionnaire, Francis said that he knew he wanted to marry Catherine one night while they sat on a porch swing just talking and watching the sunset. Seriously dreamy moment and we knew it was our perfect inspiration. We had a custom wooden swing created with their wedding monogram and the proposal date, then we laced that with tons of beautiful florals. Additionally, we took all of their dream vacation places and put them on atlas paper airplanes and in a bucket to create a literal “travel bucket list”. To top off the garden, whimsical feeling of the proposal we had three window frames with lyrics to their couple song and a musician playing the song in the background. (Yes, “Die A Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett was stuck in my head for a solid month while we planned this proposal.) After she said yes, Catherine’s family came out and surprised her – I love the picture below when she sees them for the first time :)

7 Steps to Creating Your Wedding Website

So, you want to make a wedding website! You want one spot to share photographs, hashtags, dates and important information because you know that it will make the wedding planning ordeal much, much easier. You are smart.

Wedding websites are a fairly new trend that will not be going out of style any time soon. These sites are fully customizable, functional and serve a purpose not only for you, but for your guests as well! A wedding website should serve as a hub for all of the information on the event and the place to go for updates. Here are the 7 steps to getting started on your wedding website today!

squarespace wedding website

  1. Choose Your Platform – Picking a website platform is the biggest decision you’ll make in the creation of your wedding website, so choose carefully! In truth, all of the options are great ones for websites, all with different features and options. If you want your website to be more visually stimulating, go with Wix or Squarespace. If you want your website to be more functional than visual, go with WordPress or Blogger! TheKnot.com also offers wedding website services complete with an online registry! Pro Tip: Any of these platforms will do what you need them to, the only difference is the layout.
  2. Decide on Your Price Range – Do you want a free site or are you willing to pay a small fee for some bonus features? Do you want to connect a custom domain or are you okay with the MyWedding.BlogSite.Com format? Will you need an e-commerce page where you can sell tickets or memorabilia? Will you need storage for photos and videos to upload and share after the event? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you can check out pricing and options here!
  3. Select Your Look – Regardless of the platform you chose, (which did you choose?!) all of the options offer you a wedding website template. Check out Squarespace’s templates here, Wix’s here, and WordPress’ here! Choose one that matches the theme and feel of your wedding and one that allows you to share your photos and messages in the way you want to convey them!
  4. Create a Custom Landing Page – You have your platform, you have your price set and you’ve selected the theme you want, now you must customize it! Using engagement photos or even a clip from an engagement video, adorn the landing page with you! Upload your favorite pictures, enter in a sweet quote or two and make a landing page that no one will want to click off of.
  5. Connect Your Registry – Now comes the fun part, your online registry! If you created your website with TheKnot, all of your registry questions can be answered here. You can also use MyRegistry.com for a quick and easy way to embed your registry to your site, they give you all of the information you’ll need to embed it and a step by step guide! Happy gifting!
  6. Make Sure All Necessary Information is represented – The most crucial step of all; making sure everything you need to say is covered! Is the date on the landing page? Did you provide your guests a way to RSVP? Is the location listed somewhere? What about the dress code? Indoor or outdoor wedding? Will there be an open bar? Cover all the bases by double checking the information you list on your site and you won’t have to field questions in the months to come, all of the information is on your site!
  7. Share, Share, Share! – Finally, spread the word. Share your shiny new site with your guests, friends and family. Show them just how tech-savvy and prepared you are! (Even if you’re not!) Your guests will love your site and love you for making it all so simple for them.

Los Angeles is a big area, so we decided to make this a three part blog! You may know some of these locations, you may not. Here are a couple of ideas of where to propose in the Downtown Los Angeles area:

    • Perch
I went here for my 22nd birthday and let me tell you, views for days. This is one of the most gorgeous rooftop restaurants in the area. You can see all of downtown and is gorgeous at the perfect sunset time. (Image Credit)

For the couple that loves adventure and has never done this, she’ll never think twice. The Hollywood sign is a statement of California and has been for years. If you are California natives or even just visiting, this location would never be a giveaway. It’s just something you always wanted to do… or do again. (Image Credit)

    • Airplane Ride over Downtown
Always wanted to win a girl’s heart while doing something extraordinary? This is one of them. With so many tourists in the area, there are so many places that do airplane rides and for reasonable prices too.
    • Disneyland
This for all you kids at heart out there. Now who wouldn’t want to be proposed to in front of Cinderella’s castle? This may seem silly for some, but for other’s it’s a dream come true, literally! I’ve always had a soft spot for Disneyland even as an adult. There’s something about it that just makes your heart happy, just like your new fiancé. (Image Credit)
