Art of Love

Caleb was extremly nervous about his proposal. All of Amy’s friends were engaged or married and she was expecting something totally memorable.  We wanted to take the pressure off him and create the best proposal possible for Amy and Caleb. This idea incorporates his gift for graphic design, and her love for art, photography and gardening.

The Huntington Library and Gardens in Los Angeles is remarkable, so we immediately knew it was the perfect place for his proposal to all go down.  He got her best friend involved which was major points to Amy.  Her friend asked Amy to visit the Huntington Gardens with her one Friday. Little did she know Caleb would be awaiting her arrival. Just imagine walking through these breathtaking gardens, on your way to getting engaged…

Caleb set up five easels with beautiful, enlarged photos of him and Amy throughout the gardens. Each easel was adorned with gardenias and peonies, which of course are Amy’s favorite.  Since Caleb is a graphic designer, he transformed the photos into amazing pieces of artwork. As she passed each easel, one word (that described Amy) was written on each photograph. The photos eventually led her to Caleb who was waiting, in her favorite garden, next to the final art piece he created that completely captivated him and Amy’s relationship.  After she realized what was happening, Caleb was already on his knee with a little blue box. Needless to say, that art piece is now hanging in their new home. Simply amazing!

If you are currently looking at wedding venues or places to visit for an anniversary, The Huntington Gardens does allow events and the property is gorgeous. It’s definitely worth checking out.

We Say “Yes” Wednesdays

i_love_yes

The girls and I talked and we decided we wanted to start doing a weekly blog post with things we say “yes” to, and hope you do too! It could be anything from a new gadget, romantic gift idea, inspiring stories, intriguing websites/vendors and anything we all say “yes” to that you should buy and/or be a apart of! This week, and lately I have been overwhelmed by the needs in America and around the world. So many people are suffering and going through such hard times.  I decided to share ways we can all give back when it comes to planning a wedding or being a wedding planner!

1. While getting lost in twitter world I found this website Wish Upon A Wedding Founder Liz Guthrie created this organization in January 2010. It helps couples who one and or both of them are struggling with a terminal illness. Wedding professionals can sign up in a chapter according to your area to offer their services to a couples in need. If you are interested in starting a chapter please email Liz at cwo@wishuponawedding.org. Thank you Liz for creating an idea that we can all easily give to!

2. My roommate is one of those people that has creativity written on her forehead. Check out her blog! She had the girls in our bible study and me all send her our “passion” or “gifts” we think we have in our life. She said she was working on a secret project. She finally let me in on the secret yesterday. She sent us an email to go to Barter Quest, an online website where you sign up and donate your services for someone elses. You create a list with your services and write what value they are worth, then you can swap with someone of the same value! I am down to swap! Anyone else?!

3. My last thing we all say yes to, is a company called Just Hearts This non-profit organization buys and sells jewelry and pottery that is made my woman in Uganda, Nicaragua and Thailand who either were once sold into sex slavery or are trying to provide for their family. All purchases go back to keeping these woman’s jobs secure. We all agree why not buy these for your bridesmaids or for wedding favors! Let’s gift and give back!

Proposal Photo Shoot: Lauren + Paul

We shared Lauren and Paul’s engagement story yesterday and these photos make it all come to life. You can just feel the love between these two and the sun couldn’t be brighter that day! Simply beautiful. Note the “little blue box” in the black and white photo. I just love that!

Want to see more? Visit Julie Hanna Photography.  Gentlemen, it is definitely worth capturing the proposal on camera. Even if you can’t afford a professional photographer, ask a friend to hide in the bushes. Of course, the upside to a professional is that they look like beautiful pieces of artwork!

Video Delight: Lauren + Paul

It’s official. We are reaching that age when friends are getting engaged and married.  Lauren, a friend we graduated with from Mission Viejo High School, recently got engaged to her fiancé, Paul. She was kind enough to share her engagement video and photos. This is becoming a huge trend and we LOVE it. Who wouldn’t want a timeless moment recorded forever? Major props to Paul and we are so excited for you Lauren. Of course, we can not forget to mention their lovely photographer, Julie Hanna, and videographer, Thomas O’Hara of Aqua Vivus Productions who hid in bushes to capture this beautiful moment. That’s pure talent. We will post their proposal photos tomorrow and they are total eye candy.

Here is Lauren’s version of the story. “It was our three year dating anniversary on Sunday, February 7, 2010. We attended the 9am service at church and then headed off to take a drive along the coast. Most weekends, we drive up and down the beaches of San Diego and walk around at our leisure, so this was not out of the ordinary. We stopped in Mission beach and took a walk, then got back in the car and proceeded to Windansea beach in La Jolla. Once we arrived, we walked along the rocks as we reflected on how far we’ve come over the last three years. Our topic of conversation granted him the perfect opportunity to tell me how much he loves me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He got down on one knee, presented a Tiffany diamond ring, and asked me to marry him. I was so overwhelmed with joy and love that I could not stop the tears from coming! Although it might seem cliché to propose on the beach, it really is so fitting for us. Paul is an avid surfer and we are both lovers of all things ocean—we’ve spent countless hours together on the beach, and I honestly could not picture our engagement anywhere else.”

Lauren also shared how Paul purchased a bottle of wine in Australia in the beginning of their relationship and saved it just for that particular night! How incredible is that? It’s our delight to share this heart warming video of Paul and Lauren’s engagement. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Congrats again you two. Keep the video and photo trend going all you soon-to-be engaged love birds!
